Belle's BIG Day!!!

Today is the day Belle tastes true freedom for the first time since being abamndoned in the woods of Canada as a puppy. She spent three years in a shelter where she was obedience trained, well cared for and loved. She has spent the past 5 months in my care as a foster dog in hopes of finding her a forever home outside of rescue.
A wonderful man who has loved and owned working breed dogs his whole life has adopted Belle! He was sent to me originally to look at a French Bulldog I am fostering. He was not sure, he could downsize quite that much once he researched the breed. I asked him to come and visit anyway, because I had a dog that I thought would better suit him. When Kirk met Belle, it was love at first sight!!! There was no question of chemistry, it was a beautiful thing to witness! Belle, who does not jump up, leaped on him and showered him with kisses as if he was a long lost friend. It was really something. He spent a few hours with her and decided she was perfect for his lifestyle. We completed the necessary steps for the adoption and Belle went to her forever home today!

I wish them many years of happy companionship!

It is S L O W L Y becoming Spring in the Northwest. Belle was so excited on the recent day of nearly 70 degree weather, that she was flying around the yard so happy to romp in the green grass and play.

Things Belle Enjoys...

Belle adores her human. That is her first love. She will crawl onto your lap, just curl into a ball and fall asleep. She is a big cuddly girl! Her second love is her bone! Here she demonstrates how much she fully enjoys it even singing to let the whole world know...

Obedient Belle

Belle is very talented. She knows many commands and enjoys the agility course. Belle would be a great candidate for competing in Rally Obedience.

All About Belle

Belle is a 4 year old spayed, female. Bullmastiff. She arrived at the Canadian shelter as a stray when she was a little over a year old. She has a healthy prey drive, so small animals are not an option for her to live with. She does not do well with other dogs because with previous adopters, she has been put in several situations where she was set up for failure having to defend herself from other dogs. The shelter where she came from has worked on socializing her with other dogs. She has shown interest and enthusiasm towards other dogs that are around her here but not loose. She has not shown aggression. Because of her past, we will be placing her in a home where she is the only animal so she can enjoy all the time and love from her people that a dog deserves.
One of Belle's favorite times at the shelter was when the school children came to tour the facility. She would always end up in the middle of the children, laying on her back with her legs up in the air. Belle adored her pint sized visitors!
Belle does great in a car and loves going on adventures. She also enjoys time on the couch watching TV. especially if American Idol is on. LOL! Maybe it's the clapping and cheering from the humans that surround her or maybe she is a fan of Steven Tyler? Hard to say!
Belle is as sweet and cuddly as she can be with people. She would be the ultimate movie buddy and would be thrilled to share your popcorn.
Belle has been in limbo for awhile now. It is my dream for her that she finds a home where her people see how special she is :)

Welcome Belle!

Belle arrived in her American Bullmastiff Rescue foster home on January 12, 2011. She has lived the past couple years at a shelter in Canada. She has made many human friends on her journey. She has benefited from daily training and is eager to show off all she knows. Belle has shared her humans with other animals for a long time. We are looking for a home for her with no other animals, so she can finally be the center of attention. Bell is ready to be some lucky person's BEST friend. She would love to be part of a family, and is wonderful with children. She enjoys car rides and could be a great companion to go along on work days.
This blog will give you a peek into her new life here in the state of Washington as we work to find her the perfect FOREVER home.
